trane cga 70 oil

One of our customers hired a new maintenance guy to work on their chillers last week. Yesterday he swapped compressors out on circuit 1 idk why with one form a old chiller.

Today I got a call for the whole chiller being out. Circuit 2 grounded on 2 phases he added 2 gallons of oil last night and the sight glass was way over filled and I drained over a gallon of oil out before I even saw a line on the sight glass. Could that much oil kill a compressor over night?

Also circuit 1 was grounded today also but I didn't check it much as I have new cule what or how the maintenance guy did it other then he uesed a belt driven vacuum pump that was his dads and did not ues a micron gauge

I last woked on this system last week for a control issue that I fixed and it was working good holding the water at 45f and my pressures where right on the money and my oil was nice and clean not charcoal black like today.

The facility manager wants me to make a report on what I found and if the oil could have killed compressor 2 over night.

So I know to much oil can damage a compressor but can it kill it over night I have never had someone tell me they aded 2 gallons of oil before.

Also what is the factory charge for oil? Im waiting for a trane rep to call back but dont have much hope now thats its after 5
